International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board Strategy Consultation

The International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) has published its Strategy Consultation.  The IPSASB is seeking views from stakeholders on both the future strategic direction of the IPSASB, and its work programme for 2015-2019.

The proposed future strategic objective is strengthening public financial management and knowledge globally through increasing adoption of accrual-based IPSASs. To contribute to that objective, the IPSASB will:

  • develop high-quality financial reporting standards;
  • produce publications for the public sector; and
  • raise awareness of the IPSASs and the benefits of their adoption.

There are a range of potential projects for the 2015-2019 work programme, including projects that:

  • address public sector specific issues;
  • maintain existing IPSASs; and
  • converge with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs).

The IPSASB is seeking views on its work program to ensure it continues to be aligned with stakeholder needs.
