RFI
on
international
alignment
of
climate
reporting
The
External
Reporting
Board
(XRB)
has
released
a
request
for
information
(RFI)
about
the
value
of
international
alignment
of
climate
reporting
to
climate
reporting
entities
(CREs)
and
primary
users.
We
want
to
understand
exactly
what
type
of
international
alignment
is
most
desirable
and
why.
This
is
the
first
of
two
RFIs
the
XRB
expects
to
issue
on
climate-related
disclosures
in
2025.
Our
second
RFI
will
seek
information
about
the
potential
need
for
reduced
disclosures
for
smaller
CREs
and
differential
reporting
for
specific
classes
of
CREs.
That
RFI
will
be
published
after
the
Government
has
announced
its
decisions
on
reporting
thresholds
(consulted
on
by
MBIE
in
December
2024).
This
RFI
closes
on
13
June
2025.

XRB
staff
have
published
an
interoperability
overview
and
tool
for
the
Aotearoa
New

Climate
Standards
(NZ
CS)
and
the
Australian
Sustainability
Reporting
Standard
AASB
S2
Climate-related
Disclosures.
This
responds
to
preparer
requests
for
support
in
understanding
the
trans-Tasman
interoperability
of
climate
reporting
and
aims
to
reduce
the
reporting
burden
for
entities
working
across
Australasia.
The
overview
and
tool
describe
the
alignment
of
disclosure
requirements
and
information
that
an
entity
starting
with
each
set
of
standards
needs
to
know
to
enable
compliance
with
both
sets
of
standards,
ensuring
interoperability
between
them.
