Michelle Lombaard

Director – Accounting Standards

Michelle leads the team that works alongside the New Zealand Accounting Standards Board to develop and issue accounting standards for New Zealand on behalf of the External Reporting Board (XRB). She is the technical advisor to the New Zealand Accounting Standards Board Chair, who represents New Zealand at the following forums:

• The Australian Accounting Standards Board;
• The Accounting Standards Advisory Forum that advises the International Accounting Standards Board on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) accounting standards projects; and
• The working group leader of business groups and assets for Asian-Oceanian Standard Setters Group.

Michelle also leads the accounting team that supports the New Zealand member on the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) on International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).

As a financial reporting specialist, Michelle brings vast NZ IFRS and audit experience to her role with the XRB. She is an experienced Chartered Accountant with more than ten years of auditing, and practical application experience working across several sectors including energy, not-for-profit, and Māori businesses. Michelle’s career has a strong focus on facilitating dialogue across a broad stakeholder spectrum.
